Share Our Streets

A behaviour change campaign staging interventions at high-risk road safety sites.

2014–2016

A partnership with behaviour change expert Jonathan Daly to design and deliver a series of interventions designed to engage the public in issues around road safety for the City of Melbourne. The campaign targeted pedestrians, cyclists, motorbike riders and drivers drawing attention to issues around shared spaces, distractions and car-dooring.

Shared space interventions featured free coffee or ice-cream for cyclists in exchange for an interaction with the team on the key issues, performers acting out the role of distracted pedestrians highlighted the risks of not paying attention and a mock crime scene depicted the shocking effect of car-dooring, each of the scenarios ending in a pledge by the participant to perform the new road-safe behaviour.

Collaborators

I have been collaborating with The Squeaky Wheel team on a range of behaviour change programs for many years. They are my go-to people for the delivery of on-site activations. It has always been a pleasure to work with them. Their professionalism, dedication and passion has made our work together some of the most enjoyable of my career.
