There’s a hole in my bucket

A participatory art project highlighting gaps in design thinking.

2007-2008

There’s a hole in my bucket is the traditional children’s song based on a deadlocked conversation between two characters, Liza and Henry. The Hole in my Bucket project was a response to the 2007 Melbourne Design Week theme - Under Water. It distributed 100 numbered bright yellow buckets to project participants who used the bucket to highlight a flaw in design thinking or methodology.

The entries were collected on a project website and together formed a community initiated discussion on opportunities for design to break the deadlock and solve contemporary problems. The project was repeated during the 2008 Sydney Design Week.
